NC will rule J&K for next 25 years, not just one term: MLA Baigh
Srinagar, Jun 3 : National Conference legislator from Baramulla, Javid Hassan Baigh, on Wednesday asserted that chief minister Omar Abdullah-led government is not meant for a mere five-year term but is poised to remain in power for the next 25 years, dismissing Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma’s claims that the dispensation was a “sinking ship”.
Dismissing Sharma’s remarks that the government would fall soon, MLA Baigh said the opposition was living in a “delusion” and accused them of being disconnected from political reality.
“Let him dream. Let him dream. He is alive only on that,” the MLA said.
Reacting to the Leader of Opposition’s repeated statements predicting the government’s collapse, MLA Baigh said, “They are saying Omar Abdullah’s government is going to fall and he is saving a sinking ship. Let him dream. He is alive only on that.”
When asked about the opposition’s talk of political instability, the Baramulla legislator asserted that the National Conference was here for the long haul.
“This government is not for five years. It is for the next 25 years. For 25 years, there will be a change after 25 years, trust me,” he said.
Asked to clarify the agenda of the party meeting held on Wednesday, MLA Baramulla Javid Hassan Baigh said the discussion focused on taking stock of the past one-and-a-half years and charting a long-term roadmap.
“The agenda is what we have done in the last 1.5 years on political and economic fronts, what we will do in the next 3.5 years, and how to chart the course for the next 25 years,” he added. (KNS)
