Multi-Layered Security Grid Activated at Bhagwati Nagar Base Camp Ahead of Amarnath Yatra
Jammu, June 17: Security forces have intensified preparations for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra, with CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police conducting a comprehensive security sweep at the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas, the principal base camp for pilgrims in Jammu.
Officials said personnel carried out extensive searches across the base camp premises as part of a multi-layered security strategy being implemented ahead of the annual pilgrimage scheduled to commence on July 3.
The operation witnessed the deployment of drone surveillance systems, sniffer dog squads and specialized anti-mine detection equipment to scrutinize the entire facility and adjoining areas for potential threats.
Security personnel conducted meticulous inspections of accommodation blocks, entry and exit points, parking areas and other critical installations within the base camp to ensure a secure environment for arriving pilgrims.
Officials said the exercise forms part of a broader security architecture being established along the pilgrimage route, with forces undertaking regular sanitization drills and area domination exercises at key locations.
The deployment of advanced surveillance technology and specialized detection equipment reflects the heightened vigilance being maintained by security agencies in view of the large influx of devotees expected during the yatra.
Authorities said security arrangements are being continually augmented and reviewed to ensure the smooth and incident-free conduct of the annual pilgrimage. [KNT]
