Major Setback For Azad’s DPAP As Senior Leader Taj Mohi-Ud-Din Decides To Rejoin Congress
SRINAGAR : Former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad’s Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), senior leader and former legislator Taj Mohi-Ud-Din announced on Saturday his intention to rejoin the Congress.
During a press conference, Taj Mohi-Ud-Din, who has spent over four decades in the Congress, stated that after deliberating with his workers in a meeting, he decided to return to the party. “I have a long history with the Congress, and after discussions with my colleagues, I have decided to rejoin the party soon,” he said.
This development comes just a day after the Election Commission of India announced the schedule for the upcoming assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir, marking a crucial time for political maneuvering in the region.
Taj Mohi-Ud-Din had resigned from the Congress in August 2022 to support Ghulam Nabi Azad, subsequently joining the DPAP. His decision to return to the Congress could signal shifting alliances and a reshaping of political dynamics ahead of the elections.
