Farooq Abdullah To Contest J&K Assembly Polls, Plans To Step Down For Omar Post-Statehood
Srinagar, Aug 17: National Conference president Dr. Farooq Abdullah has announced his decision to run in the forthcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections.
During a press conference in Jammu, Abdullah revealed that following the restoration of statehood, he intends to step aside, paving the way for his son, Omar Abdullah, to contest the seat.
He emphasized that the central government has assured the restoration of statehood, a commitment that all political parties are advocating for its swift return.
Abdullah also addressed the election schedule announced by the Election Commission of India, viewing it as an opportunity to gauge party readiness ahead of the polls.
