Machil Festival 2026: Indian Army Organises Grand Festival in Machil
Machil, Kupwara: The Indian Army organised the Machil Festival 2026 in the Machil area today, drawing a large gathering of local residents, schoolchildren, teachers, Army personnel, and officials from various government departments.
The event was attended by GOC Rakesh Nair, 53 Brigade Commander, CO 56 RR Machil, and other Army officers. MLA Lolab Qaiser Jamsheed Lone, ASP Jammu & Kashmir Police, ACR Mumtaz Ahmad, along with officers and employees from various departments, were also present.
Doctors, officials from the Forest and Agriculture Departments, and the Range Officer of the Forest Department, Kupwara, among others, participated in the festival.
The event featured a variety of colourful cultural programmes, with enthusiastic participation from schoolchildren and local artists. The performances showcased the rich local culture, traditions, and talent of the region and were warmly appreciated by the audience.
The Indian Army welcomed the participation of the local community and said that similar programmes and festivals would continue to be organised in the future. Emphasis was also laid on promoting sports and other constructive activities among youth as part of efforts to discourage drug abuse.
The festival also focused on promoting border tourism, creating employment opportunities for local youth, and strengthening cooperation between the Army and the local community for the development of the Machil area.
Through sports, cultural performances, and community activities, the Machil Festival 2026 provided a platform to celebrate the region’s cultural heritage and local talent, while bringing together people from different sections of the community.
