Naxalism, J&K, Northeast terrorism wiped out under Modi govt’s leadership: Amit Shah
New Delhi, July 9 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said the Land Border Districts’ Superintendents of Police (SPs) Conference has institutionalised a comprehensive approach towards border security, and asserted that a quadrangular security grid is being constructed to make the country’s borders “impenetrable” .
Addressing the conference here, Amit Shah stated that India’s border security system, based on the vision of a “Smart Border”, will become the most modern in the world in the coming years . He said the Modi government, along with border guarding forces, state and district administrations, and local citizens, is creating a robust security framework through mutual integration .
The Home Minister emphasised that a secure border, prosperous border region, and a vigilant society together can make the country secure. He noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country has been “freed from Naxalism and terrorism” in Jammu & Kashmir and the North-East, which is an indicator of collective success .
Union home minister Amit Shah said the government aims to inflict serious damage on the narcotics menace in the next three years and achieve victory over it . He added that a strong system is being built to make the country completely infiltration-free, stating, “Earlier, problems were permanent and solutions were temporary. In the Modi government, we are striking at the roots of the problems and making the solutions permanent” .
Highlighting the government’s achievements, Amit Shah said investment in border infrastructure has been increased by 400 percent. He mentioned the fencing of the 1,610-km-long India-Myanmar border at a cost of ₹31,000 crore . He also pointed to the “Demography Mission” to study demographic changes, aiming to curb “abnormal demographic growth caused by unnatural factors” and illegal infiltration .
Union Ministers of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, along with the Union Home Secretary, Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), and Directors General of Police of border states were present on the occasion .
The conference focused on discussing problems related to border security, addressing concerns regarding their resolution, and formulating appropriate policy measures . (KNS)
