Kupwara gets Rs 30 crore infrastructure boost with major civic projects

Kupwara, Jul 7 : Development projects worth over 30 crore have been approved for the Kupwara Municipal Council to improve urban infrastructure, traffic management and civic amenities in the north Kashmir town, officials said on Tuesday.

The approved projects include the construction of two bridges in the main market at an estimated cost of 3 crore, a multi-level parking facility worth 8.9 crore, and street parking infrastructure costing 1 crore, they said.
A clock tower project estimated at 50 lakh has also been sanctioned as part of the town’s beautification plan.
Officials said the largest component of the package is a sewage transmission network worth 14.9 crore, aimed at strengthening wastewater management and sanitation.

Besides, drainage works worth 2 crore, bridge maintenance projects costing 1 crore, and beautification and other civic development works worth 1 crore have also been approved.

The projects have been cleared under the supervision of the district administration, while the Municipal Council Kupwara will oversee their implementation, officials said.
They said the projects are expected to ease traffic congestion, improve sanitation and drainage facilities, and enhance the overall civic infrastructure and appearance of the town.
Officials expressed hope that the approved works would usher in a new phase of planned urban development and improve the quality of public services for residents.(KNS).
