The Need for Sustainable Tourism
As tourism in Kashmir continues to grow, it is essential to ensure that this influx benefits local communities while safeguarding the region’s unique ecological and cultural assets.
Mawar, known for its stunning landscapes and untapped potential, stands at the forefront of this sustainable movement.
“This workshop is not just about tourism; it’s about empowering the local community to become custodians of their environment while reaping the economic benefits of responsible tourism,” said Ali Sajid, Co-Founder of Kashmir Off Road. “We aim to inspire a model where nature and tourism coexist harmoniously, ensuring a brighter future for both the people and the land.”
Farha Zaidi, Co-Founder of Kashmir Off Road, emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating, “Sustainable tourism is only achievable when local residents are active participants. By focusing on community tourism and homestay management, we hope to create authentic experiences for visitors while generating livelihood opportunities for the locals.”
