Indian Army Foils BAT Attack In Kupwara: One Soldier Martyred, Four Injured
Kupwara, July 27: An Army personnel was martyred and four others, including a captain, were injured as the Indian Army foiled an attack by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) in the Kamakari sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday, military sources said.
During the intense exchange of fire, a Pakistani intruder was also killed, according to the sources. The BAT, known for comprising special forces personnel of the Pakistan Army and terrorists, launched the attack early in the morning.
“Action by the Border Action Team has been foiled by alert Indian Army troops on Saturday morning in Kamakari sector,” one of the sources stated. “One Pakistani intruder has been killed.”
The sources added that two other intruders managed to return to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) amid the gunfight that lasted for hours. The group of three intruders had hurled a grenade and opened fire on a forward post near the Kumkadi post in Trehgam sector, north Kashmir.
The Indian troops retaliated, leading to a prolonged gunfight. Five soldiers were injured in the encounter, and one of them later succumbed to his injuries.
The injured personnel, including a captain, were evacuated to a base hospital. The condition of one of the injured soldiers was reported to be critical, the sources said.
