DLSA Srinagar Organizes Special Lok Adalat on Traffic Challans and Electricity Bills
Srinagar 08 June: Under the aegis of J&K Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authority, Srinagar organized a Special Lok Adalat on traffic challans and electricity bills on 08/06/2024 as part of its Action Plan for the month of June. The said Lok Adalat was held under the insightful directions of. Justice N. Kotiswar Singh , the Chief Justice of High Court of J&K and Ladakh, Patron in Chief JKLSA and Justice Tashi Rabstan, Executive Chairman, J&K LSA and under the supervision of Jawad Ahmed, Chairman DLSA Srinagar.
The main aim of the Special Lok Adalat was to provide a platform for amicable settlement of disputes related to traffic challans and electricity bills, thereby reducing the pendency of cases in courts and promoting speedy justice.
Two Benches were constituted , wherein, Ist Bench was presided over by Mr. Mudasar Farooq ( Spl Mobile Magistrate/ PT&E Magistrate ) Srinagar and Mr. Raja Arshad Hamid (Addl. Spl. Mobile Magistrate) Srinagar,the 2nd Bench was presided over by Ms. Lubna Sultan (Addl. Spl. Mobile Magistrate (13th FC) ) Panthachowk Srinagar & President Bar Association Panthachowk as Bench Member.
During the Lok Adalat, a total of 11204cases related to traffic challans and electricity bills were taken up for disposal. Out of which 10814cases were settled amicably & Rs.2,19,200 was awarded as settlement amount resulting in a significant reduction in the pendency of cases. The Lok Adalat also provided an opportunity to the litigants to settle their disputes in a peaceful and conciliatory manner.
