Congress Backs NC’s Resolution on Special Status
Srinagar, Nov 6: The Congress party has thrown its weight behind the resolution introduced by the National Conference in the Legislative Assembly, seeking restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. This move comes after the BJP asked the Congress to clarify its stance on the issue.
Leader of Opposition and BJP legislator Sunil Sharma had sought an answer from the Congress party during a press conference. In response, the Congress party slammed the BJP, saying its opposition to the resolution exposes the party’s prioritization of petty political interests over the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Congress statement emphasized that the BJP is disregarding the sentiments of the J&K people and hindering the restoration of constitutional and democratic rights, including cultural identity, land, jobs, and natural resources. “What’s wrong in seeking rights on jobs, natural resources, and land for our people in Jammu and Kashmir? The BJP is simply working against the interests of the people,” the Congress party asserted. [KNT]
