CM Omar, several MLAs visit Engineer Rashid’s residence to offer condolences
Srinagar, May 24 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday visited the residence of Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid and Langate MLA Sheikh Khursheed in Kupwara district to offer condolences over the demise of Rashid’s father, officials said.
Several legislators accompanied the chief minister during the visit to Langate, where he expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.
Haji Khazir Mohammad Sheikh, father of Engineer Rashid, died on May 17 at the age of 85 at AIIMS Delhi after a prolonged illness. He was a retired teacher and was regarded as a respected figure in the area.
Following his father’s death, the Delhi High Court had granted interim bail to Engineer Rashid to allow him to travel to Kashmir and participate in the last rites and condolence gatherings.
During the visit, Omar Abdullah prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and conveyed his support to the family in this time of grief, officials added.
