Young Journalist Association Kupwara meets DC Kupwara Shrikant Balasahib Suse

Demands press club in the district, sought cooperation from administration in upholding the dignity and sanctity noble profession journalism

Kupwara, 11 Aug: Young Journalists Association kupwara (YJAK) on Monday met newly joined Deputy Commissioner, kupwara Shrikant Balasahib Suse at his office and demanded establishment of a press club in the district besides appraised her about other issues of working journalists in Kupwara.

The delegation of executive body of YJAK representing different print and electronic media organizations was led by its President ulfat Hussain Malik, Chairman YJAK Wasim Majnoon Mir, Vice- President Murtaza Mushtaq and other senior journalists who sought cooperation and support from DC Kupwara in upholding the dignity and sanctity noble profession journalism and fourth estate as there is onslaught of social media being handled unethically.

While welcoming the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, President YJAK Ulfat Hussain Malik reiterating demand of establishment of press club which is the panacea to all the issues pertaining to the media fraternity as land for same was already identified by the administration few year’s ago.

“YJAK believes in ethics of journalism. We will always support professional journalists and there is no space for those indulging in blackmailing, extortion and yellow journalism besides some Govt employees posing as journalists should be isolated and identified,” the journalists told DC Kupwara.

While giving patient hearing, DC Kupwara assured the YJAK body that all their genuine demands would be met and concerned will definitely be looked into.

While appreciating the role of media fraternity in highlighting public issues, he urged media fraternity to reach out to the public and ensure that their issues are brought into the notice of the administration for redressal.

“Media is significant fourth pillar of democracy and holds an important role in delivery of transparent and accountable governance to the people. All the demands put forth have been taken into consideration and will be seriously looked into so that the issues will be resolved in a time bound manner,” he assured the media persons.

On the occasion President YJAK Ulfat Hussain Malik, Chairman Wasim Majnoon Mir, vice-president Murtaza Mushtaq, General Secretary Sagar Rafiq, Spokesperson Mohd Hussain Mir, Mir Javid, Gh Hassan Mir and Adnan Shafi etc, were among the delegation meet the DC Kupwara.
