Waqf Board Chairperson Dr. Andrabi Vows Action Against Property Encroachment

Taking a firm stance against the encroachment and misuse of public properties, Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board, led a team of revenue officials to Barthana Qamarwari in Srinagar for the demarcation of unutilized Waqf land.

 

During her visit, Dr. Andrabi observed that the land had been abandoned for decades, leading to partial encroachment by some residents of the locality. Promptly issuing orders on the spot, she directed the retrieval of the encroached land and outlined plans for fencing after the demarcation process.

Expressing concern over the neglect of Waqf properties in the past, Dr. Andrabi emphasized the need to safeguard these assets, originally donated by ancestors for the collective good. She underscored the Board’s commitment to utilizing such properties in the interest of the community, calling for cooperation from local residents.

 

Highlighting the Board’s recent successes in reclaiming misused or encroached assets across Jammu & Kashmir, Dr. Andrabi assured continued efforts in this regard. She reaffirmed the Board’s dedication to serving the public interest and urged community support in preserving and utilizing Waqf properties effectively.

 

In response to media inquiries, Dr. Andrabi also mentioned the Board’s preparations for upcoming religious celebrations, including Jumma-tul-Vida, Shab-e-Qadr, and Eid, emphasizing the importance of ensuring smooth and meaningful observance of these occasions throughout the region.

 

Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi’s proactive approach underscores the Waqf Board’s commitment to upholding the integrity of public properties and promoting their rightful use for the benefit of society.
