Two Militants Killed in Foiled Infiltration Bid in Kupwara

Srinagar, Oct 5 – Two militants were killed in a joint operation by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police while foiling an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Gugaldhar area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

According to defence sources, suspicious movement was detected late Friday night, prompting the launch of the joint operation. “A heavy exchange of fire ensued between the security forces and the terrorists, resulting in the killing of two terrorists,” they said.

A police officer confirmed that two bodies have been spotted, with combing operations ongoing to ensure no other terrorists remain in the area.

Earlier, the Indian Army, via a post on X, shared that the operation was initiated on October 4 based on intelligence inputs regarding an infiltration attempt. The army noted, “Alert troops spotted suspicious activity and challenged the terrorists, leading to an exchange of fire.”

The security forces continue to maintain a strong presence in the area as the operation progresses. (With inputs from PTK/ Agencies)
