Nine Candidates File Nomination Papers In Anantnag-Rajouri Segment To Contest Upcoming LS Elections
Anantnag, April 18: Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, NC Candidate Mian Altaf and APNI Party Candidate Zafar Iqbal Manhas are among nine candidates who have filed their nomination papers from Anantnag Rajouri parliamentary constituency. The constituency is going to polls in the 3rd phase on May 7.
As already reported, the former chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, NC Candidate Mian Altaf and APNI Party Candidate Zafar Iqbal Manhas filed their nomination papers today. Overall, nine candidates have filed the nomination forms for Anantnag-Rajouri seat.
Apart from PDP, NC and Apni Party candidates, Independent candidates Gulshana Akhter, Sajad Ahmad Dar, Javaid Ahmad Dar, Sheikh Imran, Dilip Kumar Pandita and JKNF’s Muzafar Ahmad Sheikh are in the fray.
Meanwhile, in 2019, the National conference candidate (NC) Hasnain Masoodi had won that election, defeating the Congress leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir and PDP’s Mehbooba Mufti.
Hasnain Masoodi, had secured 40180 votes while 33504 votes were polled in favour of Ghulam Ahmad Mir of the INC. Hasnain Masoodi clinched the victory with a margin of 6676 votes.
Notably, this newly carved out Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary segment is a crucial in terms of the new delimitation process creating a new combination of population mix.
