Gallantry medal recipient Sujit Kumar to head Kashmir Police Zone
Srinagar, Aug 27: Senior IPS officer Sujit Kumar, a 2007-batch AGMUT cadre officer, has been appointed as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Kashmir Zone.
Kumar, who previously served as IG (Security) and IG (Crime) in the Union Territory, brings with him decades of experience in counter-insurgency operations and law and order management in the Valley.
A native of Patna, Bihar, and an alumnus of Delhi University’s Hindu College, Kumar has served in key districts including Kargil, Reasi, Srinagar, Baramulla. He has also served on central deputation with the Special Protection Group (SPG) and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
The officer is a recipient of the President’s Police Gallantry Medal and the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
Kumar, who is also a cancer survivor, had authored a memoir chronicling his personal and professional journey.
