Kupwara, 31 Aug: Castigating the government apathy over the lack of better connectivity in the district, Inhabitants of Kupwara district are up in arms against the administration for ‘failing to take steps for the wellbeing of residents’.

“Travelling on the roads in Kupwara district has become a nuisance for the commuters while the roads that are in shambles have sometimes led to the accidents.”
“To highlight their plight, locals from various areas across the district have been actively sharing videos and photos on social media platforms, showcasing the hazardous conditions of major links and interior roads.”

As per the reports, the most affected areas in North Kashmir’s Kupwara areKupwara- Lolab, Kupwara -Kralpora, Trehgam -Bangergund Dahama, Gushi -Karihama, Kupwara- Kulangam, Sulkoot Road, Machil- Pushwari and other link roads. The entire network of these roadways in this border district is thoroughly decrepit and journey along these roads is excruciatingly wearisome besides being dangerous at several places.

Commuters, students, and patients face severe hardships, with emergency patient transport to hospitals made dangerous and slow by the ruined surfaces.

“We prefer to walk instead of using vehicles in such worse road conditions. The condition is so bad that every now and day, accidents take place, and many innocent lives are lost”, said Tariq Ahmad, a local.

Nobody is listening to the miseries of local people, nor administration nor municipal bodies, where are we supposed to go. It feels like we are living in the medieval period”, said Amir Ahmad, a resident of Trehgam village.
