BJP-backed ABVP protests against alleged exclusion of Hindi, Sanskrit in JKPSC recruitment

Jammu, Dec 17: ABVP activists and students staged a protest in Jammu on Tuesday, alleging discrimination in the JKPSC’s recent recruitment for 10+2 lecturers. The protesters blocked the Tawi bridge, accusing the government of sidelining Hindi and Sanskrit while promoting Arabic and Persian in its notification.

The demonstrators backed by the BJP termed the omission of Hindi and Sanskrit lecturer posts as an attack on cultural identity and demanded their inclusion.

BJP leaders and local organizations supported the protest, warning the government against its “Kashmir-centric policies.” Several protesters were detained as police tried to restore order.

Carrying placards and raising slogans, the protesters marched from Jammu University, decrying what they called “linguistic discrimination” by the National Conference-led government.

ABVP leader Surinder Singh said, “Ignoring Hindi and Sanskrit, which are part of our cultural identity, is deliberate and unacceptable. This is an attack on our civilization.”

The protesters also criticized the omission of posts for Hindi and Sanskrit lecturers in the November 12 recruitment notification despite advertising 575 other teaching positions. They demanded fair representation for regional and national languages, warning of intensified protests if their concerns were ignored. [KNT]
