Spare the Political Class This Belittlement. We Deserve Better: Sajad Lone Hits Out at CM Omar’s Public Rebuke of NC MLAs
Calls Out “Contemptuous And Disdainful” Remarks On Ministerial Aspirants, Invokes “The Cult of Self”
Srinagar, Oct 24: J&K Peoples Conference President and Handwara MLA Sajad Gani Lone on Saturday strongly castigated the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s remarks to the media after his meeting with the Lieutenant Governor LG Sinha. He said the CM had publicly told his party legislators not to pester him for a ministerial berth.
Lone described the remarks as “a contemptuous and disdainful way” of addressing elected members.
“I honestly can’t believe that these MLAs are comfortable with such belittling and humiliating remarks. If you are unable to accommodate them in the cabinet, you can spare them from public humiliation,” he said.
He acknowledged that the matter is internal to the party concerned and said he would ordinarily have stayed out of it.
“But there is always a spillover. You may direct the derision at your own members, but it invariably belittles the political class,” he asserted.
