Snowfall Aftermath: Water-logging shows that Municipal Council Kupwara has no concrete plans
Kupwara, 04 March: Due to lack of arrangements and proper maintenance of the drainage/sewage pipes, rains and snowfall nowadays create havoc for people living in various areas of the Kupwara Town.
A typical example of the MCK’s failures is frequent water logging in various areas of the Town including: Hospital Road , Hyhama Chowk, Iqbal Market, Jamia Masjid road.
People complained about water logging causing serious problems in their passage on the roads.
Complaints poured in from Kupwara town where people faced a lot of problems due to water logging and they could be seen navigating through muddy waters.
Concerning the drainage system, Social Activist Tahir Syed said that Despite crores being spent, Kupwara’s drainage system remains in complete disarray. A little rain or snowfall is enough to turn the town into a waterlogged mess, making life unbearable for residents. Roads become rivers, businesses suffer, and daily routines come to a standstill.
Where is the accountability for the funds spent?, he said.
