Lok Sabha Elections: 79% Employee Voters use their Right to Franchise through Postal Ballot voting at Kupwara

KUPWARA, MAY 17: Postal ballot voting for government employees of Kupwara district ended smoothly on Friday, reflecting the efficient conduct of the electoral process, with officials of essential service departments, seamlessly exercising their voting rights at the Postal Voting Centre established at DC Office Complex Kupwara.

As many as, 79 % employees of essential services departments in frontier Kupwara district cast their votes at Voter Facilitation Center (VFC) where several booths were established for the convenience of the voters.

A total of 2887 postal ballots were polled from all the six assembly segments of the district in three day –long postal ballot voting which began on May 15 and concluded today on Friday.

Pertinently, on May 15, 563 Postal Ballots were cast, on May 16 , 1250 postal ballots were polled and similarly on final day today on May 17, 1074 postal ballots were cast and availed the facility taking the total postal ballots cast to 2887 out of total postal ballots voters 3667, who had opted for the postal ballot voting.

District Election authorities had made all necessary arrangements for employee voters who applied for postal ballots through Form-12.

The employees of different essential services departments during the 3 -day long polling process which began on May 17, enthusiastically waited for their turn to cast their votes.

The postal ballot initiative provided a convenient and accessible avenue for employees who are associated with essential services. It has emerged as a beacon of accessibility, allowing employees to fulfill their civic duty without the constraints of physical presence at polling stations. (Kupwara Times)
