J&K Statehood Restoration Possible Before October: Union Minister
Srinagar, Aug 08: Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Ramdas Athawale, indicated that the Indian government might restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir before October.
Speaking at a press conference, Athawale suggested that legislative assembly elections could also take place in October. He urged voters to participate in record numbers.
Athawale reiterated earlier commitments by the Home Minister regarding the restoration of statehood and the holding of assembly elections following the abrogation of Article 370.
He highlighted the high voter turnout in recent Lok Sabha elections as a positive sign for democracy.(KNS).
