Fresh snowfall: Kupwara admin restricts traffic movement towards border areas

No need to panic, Advised residents living in the upper reaches to refrain from unnecessary outdoor activities : DC Kupwara

Kupwara, 31 Jan : In wake of snowfall, the district administration Kupwara in north Kashmir has restricted vehicular movement towards the border areas as a precautionary measure.

While talking to Kupwara Times, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Ayushi Sudan (IAS)  advised residents living in the upper reaches to refrain from unnecessary outdoor activities until the  improvement of weather conditions.

The electricity supply has remained affected in some areas of the district due to the snowfall, local residents said. Although the weather improved to some extent this afternoon, according to locals the power supply continues to remain erratic.

“However, adequate stock of ration, sugar and flour has already been dumped in the upper areas and people need not to panic. The power department has been asked to ensure the supply according to the curtailment schedule,” DC said.

Tangdar is a division, while Keran and Machil are Tehsils, falling approximately 50 Km away from the district headquarter. Over the past few years the areas have seen slight progress in infrastructure development, also the administration is keenly working on improving road connectivity to ease the hardships of the local population.
