Delhi Patiala House Court Reserves Order on Bail Application of Engineer Rashid

New Delhi: The Delhi Patiala House Court has reserved its order on the bail application of Sheikh Abdul Rashid, popularly known as Engineer Rashid, following a detailed in-camera hearing. The court is expected to pronounce its decision on September 4.

Engineer Rashid, a prominent Kashmiri politician, was arrested in connection with a 2017 Jammu and Kashmir terror funding case. Despite his incarceration, Rashid secured a significant victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, winning the Baramulla seat by defeating former Chief Minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah.

Last week, a Delhi court sought a response from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) regarding Rashid’s plea for regular bail. The upcoming decision by the Patiala House Court will be crucial in determining Rashid’s immediate political future.

The case continues to draw significant attention due to its implications for the political landscape in Jammu and Kashmir, especially following Rashid’s electoral success while still under arrest.
