DC Kupwara Flags Off Beneficiaries for Exposure-Cum-Training Visit to Sheep Breeding Farm Poshnar
Kupwara, September 22: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Suse (IAS), today flagged off a group of beneficiaries from DC Office Complex Kupwara for an exposure-cum-training visit to the Government Sheep Breeding Farm, Poshnar, Rajwar Kupwara organized by the Department of Sheep Husbandry under the SEWA PARV initiative.
During the interaction, DC appreciated the department’s efforts in empowering local breeders and assured beneficiaries of full support in adopting modern methods of sheep rearing. He emphasized that livestock holds immense potential for livelihood generation and income enhancement, particularly in rural areas.
On the occasion, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Dr Ishrat informed that the exposure programme is aimed at equipping the beneficiaries with hands-on training and practical demonstrations on scientific sheep rearing, flock management, breeding practices, and animal health care. He said that such initiatives will help farmers adopt improved management practices, raise productivity, and ensure better animal welfare.
Technical experts from the department will also conduct interactive sessions at the farm, enabling beneficiaries to gain first-hand knowledge of modern techniques that ensure higher returns and sustainable growth in sheep husbandry. The visit will also showcase innovative practices that can be replicated at the grassroots level for better outcomes.
This initiative forms part of the department’s continued commitment to uplift the socio-economic condition of sheep rearers in the district and to promote self-reliance through livestock-based entrepreneurship, thereby contributing to the strengthening of the rural economy in Kupwara.
