CBI raids ex-J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik in Kiru hydropower project corruption case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched a series of raids at over 30 locations, including the residences and offices of former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik. These operations are part of a sweeping investigation into suspected corruption surrounding the awarding of a contract for the Kiru Hydroelectric project in the Union Territory.

The move underscores the government’s commitment to rooting out corruption and ensuring transparency in infrastructure projects. The Kiru Hydroelectric project, a significant undertaking, has been marred by allegations of irregularities, prompting the CBI to take swift action.

Former Governor Satyapal Malik’s premises being targeted in the raids signal the widening scope of the investigation, highlighting the importance of holding accountable those implicated in corrupt practices, regardless of their stature.

As the investigation progresses, it is expected to shed light on the intricacies of the alleged corruption and provide clarity on the steps needed to safeguard public resources and uphold the integrity of major development projects in the region. (PTK)
