World wildlife day was organized by Nowgam Army
Handwara 03 March: Indian Army’s Naugam brigade carried out an educational cum awareness drive on the occasion of world wildlife day for the youth of naugam village at Army Goodwill School Naugam. The main aim of the event was to increase awareness regarding the rich biodiversity of Jammu and Kashmir and the importance of conservation of its wilife amongst the youth of mawer valley.
During the event documentaries based on wildlife of Jammu and Kashmir were screened for the audience and a special lecture was conducted by the faculty staff of Army Goodwill School regarding various endangered species of Jammu and Kashmir. The audience was excited to learn about their area & its rich biodiversity and actively participated with their own stories of such endangered species. They also learnt the importance of conservation of endangered species and their role in the biosphere of the area.
The audience was also made aware of the various reserve forests, sanctuaries and bio reserves in the state and about their importance in conservation of the endangered species. The youth considers the rich wildlife as a heritage which must be protected at all costs. On world wildlife day let’s celebrate the rich biodiversity of Jammu and kashmir and pledge to conserve it for our future generations.
