Srinagar, May 18: The state congress chief, Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Saturday said that he will meet the party councilors tomorrow to discuss the withdrawal of support to Deputy Mayor Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Sheikh Imran who joined Peoples Conference (PC).

Imran became Deputy Mayor of SMC after he was supported by Congress councilors.

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief, G A Mir told KNS that he will reach Srinagar tomorrow following which a meeting will be convened with the councilors to discuss the withdrawal of support to Imran.

He said that motion of no confidence would be brought against him after a meeting will be held tomorrow. “It is obvious when Imran has gone against the party then there will be no councilor of party leader who will support him any further,” he said.

Earlier, Sheikh Imran joined Peoples Conference (PC) on Friday in presence of party chairman Sajad Gani Lone, General Secretary Imran Raza Ansari and Mayor SMC Junaid Azim Matoo.

Welcoming Imran into party fold, Sajad Lone had said that his joining will “strengthen the party” in Srinagar.

“Imran is a young and dynamic entrepreneur. He is a self made man in politics. He has strived and made himself heard by the dint of his dynamism. His joining will immensely strengthen People’s Conference in Srinagar,” he said. (KNS)
