Special Lok Adalat settles 660 cases amicably in Kupwara district

KUPWARA, OCT 21: Special Lok Adalat was today organised across District Kupwara under the instructions of JK Legal Services Authority. A total of Eight benches were constituted by chairman DLSA Mr. Tasleem Arief, (Pr District and sessions Judge Kupwara) for taking up a total of 846 cases of various nature including civil, matrimonial, maintenance, domestic violence, recovery of money or loan, Motor accident compensation, revenue, criminal compoundable and cheque bounce cases etc across court complexes of District Kupwara.

The Pr. District and sessions Judge himself presided over a bench at district court complex Whereas two other benches were constituted at district headquarter, one of whom were presided by Sub-Judge Kupwara Mr. Rajiv Tadyal along with Bar President Kupwara as members and Munsiff JMIC Kupwara Mr. Altaf Ahmad Mir along with vice preisent Bar Association kupwara respectively Separate benches were constituted at Handwara, Trehgam, Sogam and Tangdar, each bench presided over by judicial and President Bar Associations together.

Out of the total cases taken up, 660 cases of various nature were settled on spot by amicable means with the intervention of benches and participating advocates which resulted in settlement of Rs.80,96,636 worth claims/ suits/applications.

Apart from litigant public, officers of civil administration, various banks, members of Bar, police and prosecution participated in the General Lok adalat which was organised through hybrid mode of physical and virtual simultaneously, so as to negotiate the risks of COVID-19 without compromising upon the productivity of the lok adalat.

Overall substantial number of cases was settled and public at large received instant relief from their litigations and participants appreciated the arrangements of District legal services authority in the special lok Adalat.
