Several Schools Shut In Poonch As Teachers Remain Absent, Inquiry Ordered

Poonch, 9 Feb: Several schools remained closed in the Mendhar area of the Poonch district on Tuesday as teachers remained absent, reports and officials said.

The schools had reopened only on February 8 after remaining closed for several months following the outbreak of covid-19 pandemic.

Locals told GNS that among others, the schools which remained closed include government school at Nar Balnoi, Nimbel Balnoi and the one at Mohalla Dalla Ghani in zone Mankote. They said that no teacher turned up even as main gate of the schools were locked and students were kept waiting outside.

When contacted, Deputy CEO Mendhar Lal Hussein told GNS that an Inquiry into matter has been ordered. Pending enquiry, he said, concerned ZEO has been asked to withheld the salary of all the teachers who remained absent. (GNS)
