KUPWARA, Jan 3 :
As the population of Line of Control (LOC) areas in this frontier district Kupwara is living on the edge due to the heavy exchange of fire, Govt has failed to construct the 120 bunkers sanctioned by the Government many years ago.

The areas where executing agency R&B deptt has failed to construct bunkers include Taad, Dhani and Sadhpora in the time frame of September this year at a cost of Rs 10 lakh.

Chairman Civil Society Karnah Haji Peerzada Siraj-ud- din told KNS that Government has failed to adhere to construction deadlines accused the executing agency of slow pace of work.

When KNS contacted SDM Karnah Dr Bilal Mohiudin, he said, ” out of 120 authorized shelters 80 are finished with chunks were as 30 dugouts are at section level. There has been moderate advancement to the fag year’s end because of drop in temperature which isn’t appropriate for laying solid sections.”

He further added that shelter development has consistently been our need and rest dugouts will be finished soon. (KNS).
