Jabdi village of Karnah boycotts DDC poll phase-I, records zero percentage

Karnah,Kupwara  Nov 28: As large numbers of voters were seen in few polling stations in valley during DDC polls phase-I, the polling station in north Kashmir’s Jabdi village of Karnah tehsil wore a deserted look throughout the day where zero percent of polling has been recorded.

According to data revealed by the Office of the Returning Officer 13-Tangdar DDC Kupwara, it shows zero percentage of polling in Jabdi village of north Kashmir’s Kupwara during phase-I.
“Among 336 votes, 175 were men while 165 were women, however no vote has been casted till the day culminated”, official data revealed.

On November 24, locals of Jabdi village protested against the authorities for ignoring their miseries and hardships.
Locals during protest in the village had expressed that they won’t cast their ballots as authorities have left the entire population of the village at the hands of Army.

Residents had said that they are unable to venture out to meet their requirements without a valid permission from local Brigade Commander. “We cannot meet even our relatives during even and odd times without permission of Army”, locals had said while talking to KNS, adding “Since Article 370 was abolished, the border skirmishes between India and Pakistan have multiplied their miseries.

They had said if the demands of villages will not be addressed early, the entire village will boycott the upcoming DDC elections. (KNS)
