Baramulla, November 10 :Government Medical College Baramulla again In Headlines as ‘Lift’ and ‘Bio Chemistry Analyzer’defunct from last two week,Causing inconvenience to hundreds of people who visit the facility for healthcare needs.
In absence of the lift facilities patients and attendants are forced to use stairway where chances of accidents are higher in winter owing to the slippery conditions.The scenes of attendants ferrying critical patients on their shoulders for post-operative care are often witnessed.
“What kind of hospital is this where we have to lift patients who have undergone a surgery on shoulders,Who would take the responsibility if any accidents happens on the way.said an attendants of a lady whose operation has been done before two days and we have been forced to carry your patient on shoulders with trolleys.
Meanwhile Bio Chemistry Analyzer has been also defunct as facility is missing the patients either visit private clinics or travel long distances for diagnostic facilities which, they said, is expensive and time consuming.
Another pregnant lady said that we have visit private diagnostic centers for the tests Of LFT,KFT,ALP,Calcium,etc which are expensive.“We have to pay Rs 100-800 at a private diagnostic center located at outside the GMC Baramulla for a test which could have cost us an amount of 200 to 250 Hundred rupees in a Baramulla hospital,
He added that,As Government provides all facilities to the pregnant ladies in Hospitals,But we have face lot of Struggles during these tough days as in Covid-19 Disaster.
In this regard Medical superintendent GMC Baramulla Dr Syed Masood says that the motor of Lift has been gutted we have informed the technical team from Chandigarh they will replace the motor and lift will resume soon.(KNS)
