For no fault, career of 135 students of 12th standard at stake

Bhat Imran

Srinagar, Feb 11: Dozens of students who recently collected the qualified marks sheet of 12th standard Thursday said the Board of School Education (BOSE) is asking them to reappear in the exams of those additional backlog subjects that have been promoted last year.

The students said that BOSE was making a mockery of mass promotions that was announced last year for the students having a backlog of more than two subjects and other students having a backlog in their 6th additional subject.

They said that in October-2020, BOSE has issued the qualified marks sheets to 135 students who were having a backlog of additional backlog subjects but recently have cancelled the promotion and have asked them to reappear in the exams.

A student who is facing the same issue told KNO, “Among the 135 students, most of us have already started preparing for the competitive exams like NEET and JEE but in a strange decision the BOSE is asking to reappear in the exams of the additional backlog subject that was promoted a year back.”

He said that BOSE is not only playing with the career of 135 students but is its credibility on stake.

The students demand revocation of the cancellation orders of mass promotion of having a backlog previously of additional subjects.

Top officials at BOSE told KNO that issuing qualified marks sheets to these students occurred due to some technical glitch.

“There was no provision of mass promotion to the students having backlog in additional subjects and BOSE has accordingly cancelled the mass promotion to those students,” the official said—(KNO)
