J&K DDC Polls: 53.69% voting recorded for DDC election in Ganderbal for 7th Phase

53.69% voting recorded for DDC election in Ganderbal for 7th Phase

GANDERBAL, DEC 16: The Phase-7th of polling in district Ganderbal witnessed in Sherpathri DDC constituency, vacant seats of Panchs and Sarpanchs which began amid tight security arrangements from 7 am and concluded at 2 PM today.

Polling concluded peacefully in Sherpathri constituency that went to polls today in which 7938 out of 14784 voters (4232 male voters and 3706 female voters) voted to choose their representatives in their respective councils.

36 polling stations were established at 19 locations and 42 Candidates are in fray which include 17 candidates for DDC, 3 for Sarpanch and 22 for Panch seats of block Sherpathri for the phase 7th.

During the day District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal along with Additional Deputy Commissioner, Farooq Ahmad Baba visited several polling stations of Block Sherpathri and inspected the implementation of necessary guidelines including adherence of COVID protocol during polling process.

On the occasion the DPEO also interacted with the voters and enquired about the facilities related to election who appreciated the district administration for their efforts in ensuring smooth and peaceful elections in the district.

Foolproof security arrangements had been put in place for smooth voting and adequate arrangements were also put in place to ensure that smooth, free and fair elections are held in the district.
