India, China agreed to disengage on north, south bank of Pangong Lake: Rajnath Singh
Srinagar, Feb 11 : Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said in the Rajya Sabha that both sides have agreed to withdraw troops from the Pangong Lake area. Earlier, China announced this on Wednesday.
Rajnath Singh said, “I am happy to tell the House that our firm intentions and lasting negotiations have resulted in an army retreat with China on the north and west banks of Pangong Lake.”
Rajnath Singh said, “According to the agreement with China for the withdrawal of troops in Pangong Lake area, both sides will remove the forward deployment in a phased, coordinated and authentic manner.”
Rajnath Singh said, “I want to assure this House that we have not lost anything in this conversation.” I also want to inform the House that there are still some disputes regarding deployment and patrolling on LAC. Our attention will be on these in further talks. Both sides agree that the entire process of withdrawal of troops under the bilateral agreement and rules should be resolved at the earliest. China is also aware of our resolve to protect the sovereignty of the country. It is expected that China will work with us to resolve the remaining issues.
Rajnath Singh said, “I want to urge this House that with me the entire House praises our army’s display of valor and valor even in the face of these odd and horrific snowmelt.” I also want to tell the House that India has always told China that bilateral relations can only develop with the efforts of both sides, as well as the boundary question can be resolved through dialogue.
Rajnath Singh said, “China will keep its troops in the north coast towards the east of Finger 8. Similarly, India will also keep its army units at its permanent post Dhan Singh Thapa post near Finger 3. (PTK)
