Cancel party registrations of PDP, NC for not unfurling tricolor on Independence Day: BJP to ECI

SRINAGAR, AUG 15 :: BJP’s Kashmir Unit on Sunday urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to cancel the party registrations of PDP and NC as they did unfurl the national flag on 75th Independence Day and demanded strict action against them.

In a statement, Party’s Kashmir Media In-charge, and youth leader Manzoor Bhat said 75th Independence Day has exposed the black sheep in India, and none among the leaders of PDP and NC hosted the national flag.

He said they are same parties when they were in the power in Jammu and Kashmir; they used to unfurl tricolor at Bakshi Stadium because they were hungry for the political space and now they have shown their true colors.

“Even they have not uttered a single word or wished the people on eve of Independence Day. We urge ECI to make a proper system for observing national importance days and they should cancel the registrations of these parties who skip such events,” Bhat said.

The official Twitter handles of so-called leaders are mum about the Independence day and they are only using their statements for propagating anti-national activities.

Youth leader questioned if the same parties are contesting elections on the constitution of India why they are not hosting tricolor on 15th August and 26 January. It seems they are least concerned about the aspirations of people of the country, he said.

Bhat urged Lt. Governor Administration to take such things seriously and held them responsible for such acts. These things will not be tolerated anymore when schools in the entire JK was asked to celebrate the day, why political parties skipped the event,” he said.

“They should explain their position on it, otherwise, party will lodge a complaint to ECI for further inquiry.  They should be held responsible for such acts. It is a matter of national interest and it seems they are not concerned about repercussions of skipping such things,” he said.

Bhat said whether BJP was in power or not, the party has never compromised on such things and has cleared their position, that nation first and party second. Same should be applied to other parties for not observing such important days, otherwise it will convey a wrong message to the people of Valley, he added. (PTK)
