BSF detects 10th tunnel in Jammu region, Hideout busted in Poonch, arms and ammunition recovered
Jammu, Jan 23: Border Security Forces personnel had detected one more tunnel measuring 150 meters long and 30 feet deep in Pansar area of Jammu along the international border on Saturday.
An official said that on specific intelligence inputs BSF detected another tunnel in the area of Pansar, Jammu in the series of anti tunneling drive during the wee hours. They said the tunnel has been detected between Border Post number 14 and 15.
“The tunnel is approximately 150 meteres long and 30 feet deep. BSF personnel dug it out during their continued and persistent effort,” official said adding that BSF personnel were searching for this tunnel for a long time and its detection was the effort of the anti-tunneling operation which is underway all along the International Border.
Pertinently, in the same area in June last year, BSF had shot down a Pakistani Hexacopter carrying load of weapons and ammunition. BSF troops had also foiled an infiltration bid in the same area in November 2019.
The tunnel detected today is the 4th one detected in the last 6 months in the Samba, Hiranagar and Kathua areas and the overall 10th in Jammu region.
Meanwhile, Joint Forces busted a hideout and recovered arms and ammunition from it in Hari Buddha area of J&K’s Poonch region.
Sources said that a joint search operation was launched by Joint Forces including soldiers from 16 Rashtirya Rifles, 183 Battalion BSF and Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police in Hari Buddha area.
During operation a hideout was found in forest area where from one AK-47 rifle, its 3 magazines, 3 Chinese pistols, 5 pistol magazines, 4 hand-grenades, 33 pistol rounds and a radio-set. (KNT)
