17 Inf brigade organizes sexual, reproductive health awareness program at NTPHC Nowgam.
Kupwara Feb 11: Army In Mawer valley on Thursday organize medical camp for the women living in rural areas have very limited access to adequate medical facilities and are rarely exposed to health education programs. This is a challenge for a developing region and requires serious consideration for not only raising the health awareness amongst women but also to improve the gender equality in the region.
Medical checkup and cancer awareness drive for the locals at New Type Public Health Center (NTPHC) Naugam of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, The aim of the camp was to give awareness about Sexual and reproductive health, and to educate the women about women health, type of cancer, reproductive health issues and complications related to pregnancy by doctors from the Indian Armed Forces and civil health department.
Around more than 120 women were made aware of cancers which have high fatality rate if neglected such as breast and cervical cancer.
These diseases can be prevented if screened and diagnosed early. Also they were enlightened about sexually transmitted diseases which often neglected because of lack of knowledge and social taboo.
A society which actively contributes towards the education and medical well being of women is destined to flourish and the Indian Armed Forces are also committed for the same cause. The health of women and their medical well being is one of the most important stepping stone for the development.
